You explained your no in three texts.

Every person starts somewhere different. Find your room here.

Hey Reader,

You typed no. Then you typed a reason. Then you typed a second reason, an apology, and a promise to make up the difference next month. Your reply grew into three texts before you pressed send.

Here is the root. Insecurity writes the extra sentences, and your schedule has little to do with them. One reader told me she over-explains because of internal insecurities, and she saw the link after she started to practice one sentence. You explain a no when you fear the other person will judge you. You fear the judgment because your worth feels tied to their approval.

Paul asks in Galatians 1:10: "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God?" Jesus teaches the plain answer in Matthew 5:37: "Yes, yes" or "No, no." A plain no tells the truth about your capacity, and the truth is not cold.

Try this week and send the sentence: I am not available for this. Stop at one sentence. Notice what you feel in the minute after you press send.

You want a sentence ready for when you are not available. You overexplain because of internal insecurities. Communication knowledge closes the gap between the two. In the workshop, I unlock your Language code, and you rehearse the plain no out loud until the password to hack into your own no sounds like your voice.

Tuesday, October 27th, 8:00 PM ET. 75 minutes live on Zoom. $47.

October 24, 2026 Every person starts somewhere different. Find your room here. Hey Reader, Saturday arrives, and Monday's requests already wait in your inbox. A volunteer needs a ride. A friend needs a favor. A board member needs a decision before noon. The last Saturday I felt Monday coming before the weekend ended was when my employer was launching a new location, and I was the administrative assistant to the director. Let's just say it was a long week! You want to meet Monday with a plan...

October 23, 2026 Every person starts somewhere different. Find your room here. Hey Reader, She asks again on Sunday. Last week you told her you would think about her request. Now she stands in the hallway, waiting for your answer. You want one sentence ready before she asks. You explain your no in three texts because you believe a short answer needs a long defense. A plain answer respects both of you. Yes means yes, and no means no. Here is a sentence to practice on Tuesday: "I hear what you...

October 22, 2026 Every person starts somewhere different. Find your room here. Hey Reader, You checked your calendar on Sunday night. Monday holds the staff call. Tuesday holds the volunteer meeting. Thursday holds the planning session. Your weekend holds three roles before noon, and your name appears on none of the lines meant for rest or for your own work. When I was going hard in my business, my name never showed up on my calendar! Working 30+ hours doing massage barely left me with any...
